Delete Your Account

This page explains how to request deletion of your KeepsakeVault account and associated vault data.

What account deletion means

An account-deletion request first places your account in a locked, scheduled-deletion state. The request is recoverable for a 30-day recovery window: sign in and choose Restore my account before that window ends. After the window, the account becomes eligible for final deletion processing and is surfaced by the daily deletion sweep. Final deletion may require operational processing; once it completes, it cannot be undone.

Delete your account from the web

You can delete your account directly from the web app. Sign in, go to Settings → Danger zone, and use Delete account. You'll be asked to type DELETE to confirm.

Or delete from the mobile app

If you prefer, you can also delete your account from the KeepsakeVault mobile app:

  1. Open the KeepsakeVault app on your device.
  2. Tap the Settings tab.
  3. Scroll to the Danger zone section.
  4. Tap "Delete my account" and type DELETE to confirm.

Once confirmed, your account is locked and scheduled for deletion. You can restore it during the 30-day recovery window; after that window, it becomes eligible for final deletion processing and is surfaced by a daily job.

Need help?

If you cannot sign in, email privacy@keepsakevault.app from the address associated with your account. We will verify your identity and help submit the same scheduled-deletion request; the 30-day recovery window begins when the request is accepted.

What data is deleted

When final deletion processing completes, the following app data is permanently removed:

  • Your account profile (name, email address, profile image)
  • All memories in your vault (text, photos, videos, audio recordings)
  • All voice snapshots and vocab words
  • All sealed letters and milestones
  • All memory series and collections
  • Child profiles and associated data
  • Grandparent sharing links
  • Vault team membership and invitations
  • Notification preferences
  • All uploaded media files from our storage servers
  • Your authentication identity (you will no longer be able to sign in)

What is retained and why

Account deletion removes KeepsakeVault app data, but payment providers may retain billing and transaction records under their own policies and applicable legal obligations:

  • Stripe — final deletion processing attempts to cancel the web subscription. Stripe may retain customer, payment, invoice, dispute, and transaction records for its own legal, tax, fraud-prevention, and dispute-resolution requirements; KeepsakeVault does not set or promise a single retention period for Stripe records.
  • Apple App Store and Google Play — store billing and transaction records are held by the applicable store under its policies and legal obligations.
  • RevenueCat — final deletion processing requests entitlement/subscriber cleanup for native purchases; provider-side records may remain where required by the provider or law.

We do not intentionally retain your memory content or uploaded media after final deletion processing completes. We may retain limited records when required for legal compliance, security, fraud prevention, or resolving disputes; no universal duration is stated here because it depends on the record and requirement.

Active subscriptions

If you have a Keeper or Family Vault subscription, account deletion is not a substitute for cancelling it. To prevent a monthly or annual renewal during the recovery window, cancel web billing in the Stripe billing portal, or cancel a mobile subscription in your Apple App Store or Google Play subscription settings. If final deletion processing runs, KeepsakeVault attempts to cancel Stripe billing and revoke RevenueCat entitlements; provider processing and refund rules still apply.

To avoid future charges without deleting your account, you can cancel your subscription separately from the Subscription section in Settings.

Export your memories first

Before deleting your account, we strongly recommend exporting your memories. KeepsakeVault provides an in-app export feature (Settings → Export Memories) that lets you download a PDF journal or a full media archive of all your memories.

Once final deletion processing completes, recovery of any data is not possible.
